“I’m really concerned about her,” said the young doctor. “She’s fine physically, but emotionally she’s very unstable. It’s like there are two personalities living within her. The one is strong, independent, intelligent, and very outgoing. But the other personality is like a small child afraid of her own shadow. She is very needy and wants so badly to feel loved and wanted. Somehow we have to figure out how to make the two meet in the middle and bridge the gap.
“Can you help her?” asked Destiny’s dad, “What do we do now?”
The doctor shook his head. “We may have to institutionalize her if she doesn’t show any signs of improvement soon. She can’t go on like this much longer.”
Dad’s eyes filled with tears and he dropped his head. “Please doctor” he said, “Don’t give up on her.”
“I’m not going to,” replied the doctor, “But I want you to realize that it’s out of my hands at this point. I don’t know what else to do for her.”
Dad nodded his head and shook hands with the doctor. “Thank you,” he said. “Please call me if there are any changes.”
“Of course.” The doctor replied, “But for now go home and get some rest and we’ll talk again tomorrow."
Destiny’s dad walked slowly down the hospital corridor. Tears were streaming down his face and he prayed. “Please God,” he begged, “Please help my little girl!”

Destiny dreamed she was standing all alone in a huge open field surrounded by darkness. She looked down and the earth opened up right before her eyes. There were flames shooting upwards toward her. They were coming from a huge hole, gaping from down below. The flames swarmed all around her and she felt the heat getting closer and closer to her trembling body. She screamed and turned to run away from the fire that threatened to overtake her. She fell, and then began to crawl towards the light that beckoned her to come closer. About half-way there, once again the earth opened up right in front of her and there was another huge hole. But this one was even larger than the first. Destiny screamed, then began to weep. “Help me Lord,” she cried, “Please help me!”
All of a sudden, Destiny knew heaven was just ahead……all she had to do was cross over the gaping hole. But how?
“How God,” she asked, “How do I cross over?”
“Just meet me in the middle,” a voice said, “Two ends must meet before one can become whole.”
“Who are you?”
“I am,” said Christ, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. I bridged the gap for you my child, over two thousand years ago. All you have to do is reach out and grab a hold of my hand and let me help you.”
Destiny reached out her hand and strained to grasp hold. “I can’t!” she screamed, “I’ve done so many bad things in my life Lord.”
“I know my child,” he said, “But your sins are forgiven, and your life is just beginning. Just look to me!”
Destiny looked up and on the left side she saw the entire world displayed in the shape of a globe. On the other side was heaven. There in the middle was Jesus hanging on the cross between the two worlds.
Destiny smiled and reached out her hand. She knew right then and there, Jesus had bridged the gap for her. When their hands met, a peace filled Destiny like she had never known. She had been searching for that type of peace all of her life. And now, she was no longer two, but one with HIM. She was finally whole and complete.
