"You ask so much. The agony. Is there no other way?"
"No. That's why we came; remember?"
Looking upwards, his eyes misted with tears; "Yes. But remind me. Tell me it's worth it."
His chin fell. He started to sway. Going past the point of balance, he crashed into the moss and wet grass.
"It's too much!"
"Always was. You knew that before you left home."
"But it's different now. I'm here. I.. I'm not sure I can do it. Are they even worth it?"
"You know they are."
His hands made fists in his hair as he struggled with his thoughts. "I've seen their evil first hand. I know their hearts. I've experienced their ways. Truly, are they worth what I must pay?"
"We have always known their hearts. But now you have one of their hearts; that's the difference."
Heavy breaths raked his body as he listened.
"Remember our discussion before you left. You knew it would be difficult. You can't do this alone; you must surrender."
"But for what?" He spat. "So they can continue to deny we even exist? I've seen their hatred; felt their anger. They murder, cheat, steal." He shook his head. "They're not worth it!"
"You've lost perspective. Remember that you have stepped into time. A small drip of it where You see religious bigotry, hypocrisy and the self serving elite. Up here, I see the many thousands who have walked in the Truth. And I see the millions yet to come; who desperately need this Sacrifice."
"One act by one individual. A drip in an ocean of selfish, violent acts of terror and abuse. It can't change anything."
A drop of blood appeared on His forehead. "I can't figure this!"
"You forget who you are. Surrender, allow My Spirit to strengthen you; to lift you up and carry you through this."
"I don't think I can. I don't want to drink this cup. Please, release me."
Another drop of blood joined the first as the sweat of excruciating pain grew upon His brow.
"Let's just talk for a while. You will struggle through this. But I cannot take this cup from you; nor do it for you."
"I... I'mm, not sure I can. I have a will of my own. This is not my will. Don't You see the agony? Can't You feel my pain? I can't do this. It's too much. I beg You. No more."
Several drops of blood now formed on his brow. Joining together, they dripped to the earth.
"My Son, My only Son. I hunger for the millions of sons and daughters that will come to know Me, a thousand, two thousand years from now, because of your Sacrifice. Look ahead. Remember your limited vision right now and depend upon Mine. See them; do it for them."
For a while he lay as though dead; quiet, hardly breathing.
Finally his lungs heaved a huge sigh and he rose from the ground.
"Yes. You are right. I will do it for them. Not my will, but Your will be done."

I think you covered the topic well without using the word drip.
Thanks for sharing.
For me, however, it wasn't convincing. I cannot imagine Jesus arguing with God about dying for us. His words in John seem contrary to your dialogue. In John 10:11 Jesus uses a picture of himself, telling the crowd "I am the good shepherd. I am willing to die for my sheep." And again in John 10:17-18, he states, "I am willing to give up my life in order that I may receive it back again. No-one takes my life away from me. I give it up of my own free will. I have the right to give it up, and I have the right to take it back. This is what my Father has commanded me to do."
You are a talented writer. The character of Jesus just didn't draw me in.
