halfway house swung open and in walked
Bill, an inmate from federal
prison. “Welcome to the center,”
said the director. We are here to
help you. What can I do to get you
started on a new life? Bill smiled
nervously and said, “I could really
use some clothes. All I have are
these prison gray sweats.” “That’s
not a problem. We have a great thrift
store full of wonderful clothes,” said
the director.
This was just a beginning for
Bill. After orientation and new
clothes for an interview, he quickly
secured employment with a local
flooring company. He worked as a
helper during his time at the
halfway house. After three months,
Bill was allowed to go to home
confinement which allowed him to
live at home and report twice a week
to the center. In addition, the
center maintained his accountability
and clear conduct.
Bill enrolled in Prison
Fellowship Life Skills Program. It
helped him to make and maintain a
budget, become a better parent, and
obtained his driver’s license. He
said, “It aids inmates in getting back
to society and becoming a quality
citizen. Bill stated, “The classes
helped me realize a lot of things. I
thought I had my life together, but I
had a lot of anger I hadn’t dealt
with.”
Four years after his time at the
halfway house, Bill is free and owns
his own flooring company. He said, “My
interaction with The Salvation Army
was limited to the change I threw in
the kettle at Christmastime. Today,
I’m living proof The Salvation Army
stands for helping people and giving
them a chance.” The next time you
donate clothing to The Salvation Army,
remember lives are restored.

Make sure you start a new paragraph each time a different person is speaking. You also forgot some end quotes, but with the new paragraph, it will be easier for you to spot those mistakes.
I think you covered the topic in a fresh and unique way. You had a great beginning and the ending brought the story full circle. Well done.
