Dear God,
Why can’t we choose our own appointment with death? I think life here on earth would be so much easier for me. I think I would make better choices in the way I live. I think I could prepare my family for the time when I leave this earthly home.
Trying to understand,
Your Child
* * * *
My Dear Child,
Remember, I’m your Father in Heaven. I’m your Creator. I planned your life to be like a puzzle piece which fits into its special space in my great masterpiece of the creation for the Salvation of Mankind.
When you read Psalms 139:13-16, it explains how I alone formed you in your mother’s womb. You should praise Me because I made you in a wonderful and amazing way. I saw your skeleton form take shape while the flesh grew on your bones—from an embryo into the person you are today.
Yes, I did ordain the number of days you’d have on the earth, because I have a purpose for your life. Being aware of your thoughts, your heart, and your weaknesses, I’m willing to give you grace and mercy, because you are only human. All you have to do is ask.
Now, think. If I gave you the opportunity to choose the days of your birth and your death, that would mean, you’d be here in heaven standing behind Me while I wrote your appointments in the Lamb’s Book of Life. You would have seen the wonders of heaven and all its glory. My self-sacrificing Son, Jesus Christ, would have already captured your heart without you having to experience some of His suffering.
Do you really think you’d want to leave heaven to live on the earth for a few brief moments in time? I think not.
I realize that some humans get wrapped up in their own universe of family, friends, and career and forget about Me. My heart saddens to think that not all people will choose to have faith in Me and depend on the Holy Trinity for strength, hope, and wisdom. But that’s just the way it is. I’d rather have a few people like you who want to know Me, live by My ways, and choose My wonderful Son as their Savior to be their focal point for making life’s decisions.
My child, I love you and I want you to choose to love Me while you live on earth. Enjoy all the many blessings I have planned. It is up to you to receive each day as a gift and seek Me in My favorite places—your morning quiet times, scriptures which speak directly to your heart, and in nature itself—sunrises and sunsets, multicolored seasons, and the massive sky both during the day and the night.
Yes, I agree with you, it would be easier to know the time schedule of your life; the way you will die; and have the opportunity to prepare your loved ones for your death. But that’s not feasible, because you’re only human.
In Isaiah 55:7, I shared My intimate views with the prophet. “. . . For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways . . . . As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”*
In other words, I Am the eternal, sovereign Creator of this entire universe. I Am in control of all things here on earth and in heaven at all times, but I’ve given each person “free will” to choose the way they want to live.
The generation in which you live now is no different than the generation when time began. There have always been stubborn, foolish people who refuse to take time to be still and know that I AM God. How much patience would you have had for these rebels of MY creation?
I’m certain; mankind would have already been a vapor.
My hope for you, dear child, is to continue searching the scriptures for My answers to your questions and prayers. Hopefully, you’ll witness how My Will is done here on earth as it is in Heaven. I will look forward to the day when it’s time for your appointment to meet Me, personally, in My great throne room in heaven.
With all My love,
God
