Time passed on the small earth, and the Creator enjoyed the time He was able to spend with His most beloved creations. Knowing His creations must choose between loving trust in Him, and their own separate desires, He waited for them to make their choice.
With the help of an imposter, the creations chose their own desires and were forced to face the consequences. While the enemy rejoiced in what he saw as his own triumph, the Creator brought forth a child.
The parents named him Cain. Along with his brother Able, they taught him about God their Creator. God continued on with the family and as He cared for them, He waited for the children to make their choice.
The older son chose His own way, while the younger chose God’s. With the help of anger and jealousy, the older killed the younger. While the enemy rejoiced in what he saw as his own triumph, God brought forth a child. His parents named him Seth.
Years passed. The creatures continued to choose their own way. With the exception of Noah and his family, God destroyed the population who no longer acknowledge Him. New generations grew and went their separate ways. Most once again forgot about the Creator.
In a thriving oasis surrounded by fertile land, Abram remembered the Creator and followed Him to a new land. Pleased with the love and obedience shown Him, the Lord made a promise to this servant of His.
Though his heart yearned to believe his Lord, impatience eventually triumphed in Abraham and his wife, and they tried to fulfill the promise in their own way. While the enemy rejoiced in what he saw as his own triumph, the Creator brought forth another child.
Isaac’s wife Rebecca brought forth twin boys, receiving upon their birth the promise that the younger would rule over the older. When the time came to pass on the family leadership, one parent refused to acknowledge the promise and the other tried on her own to fulfill it.
Forced to flee, that younger son Jacob sought the will of his father’s God, and made that God his own. Although desiring to serve Him, he continued to end up in tricky situations. While the enemy rejoiced in what he saw as his own triumph, the Creator brought forth many children.
Sibling rivalry once again reigned triumphant, this time in a family with twelve brothers. Judah convinced the others to sell the favored one to Egypt. Convicted by this sin, Judah left his family, seeking his own way. After marrying a foreign woman and ending up with three sons so evil that the Lord killed them, Judah gave into the temptations of what he supposed was a foreign harlot. While the enemy rejoiced in what he saw as his own triumph, the Creator brought forth a child.
“Judah begot Perez and Zerah by Tamar [a foreign woman]…Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab [a foreign woman], Boaz begot Obed by Ruth [a foreign woman], Obed begot Jesse, and Jesse begot David the king.”
At last in David, God found a man after His own heart. Loving him, blessing him, the Lord of All waited. David remained true for many years, never wavering. With the help of lust, however, he did fall. While the enemy rejoiced in what he saw as his own triumph, the Creator brought forth a child.
“David the king begot Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah.”
Generations passed. Alternately rejecting and receiving God, the people awaited God’s promise of a Savior. They were scattered, enslaved, nearly annihilated multiple times, and finally brought under the control of the Romans – the most powerful nation on earth.
While the enemy again rejoiced in what he saw as his own triumph, the Lord of all creation brought forth His Own Child – His Son who would make it possible for each person to be not just His creation, but His child as well.
