Walking in the midst of darkness
With desire to see the light pierce through
I meditate on how Jesus made a way
For the Israelites in the red sea
And how God answered by fire
When Elijah called upon Him
There I saw God crush the idols
His presence as a cloud to lead his people in the day
And by fire during the night
But now leading through His Spirit
Who is with us whereby we cry Abba Father

Pain piercing through deep and deep
Thorns piercing through the flesh as blood drips over
Eyes tired but filled with peace
Hands and legs pierced through nails
In death the veil being broken
We now can enter the presence of the Holy One,
And can approach His throne by Grace

Days pass by and nights go by
Looking out to see for Christ to return
Looking inwards to see if I'm ready
Looking at people around me
Many who do not know of Christ's return
Many who just go by thinking that Christ was just a man
As I walk by my heart reaching out to them
Knowing that we all will face Christ

How I long for my loved ones
To come into the knowledge of Christ
How I long to open my mouth
In the wisdom of God
That would touch people
By the power of the Spirit of the Living God
Who can quicken the mortal bodies
Unto whom I bow and wait for his glorious touch
That our souls may live and not perish

Such beautiful heartfelt thoughts - that reaches into the very soul of every Christian; very touching and nicely done. Kudos!

"How I long to open my mouth

Your heart's in the right place, dear writer. With that as your motivation, God will make use of your words for His glory.

p.s. Did you leave out punctuation on purpose? Just curious, since "free verse" is a pretty "free" means of expression :)
Jan Ackerson 07/20/06
I agree that some punctuation would enhance this poem, but I really appreciate this journey through the history of our faith, and then through the history of your narrator's faith.

Bravo! Good word pictures. Nicely done.
