This was the day. The long awaited arrival of the final Lamb, the One who held the power to take away the sins of the world. My brothers and I were eager to proclaim to the world that He had finally been born. But first, there was a battle to win in these early hours of the final struggle.

After nine long months of watching, waiting, and protecting the young mother of the Lamb from smaller, less focused attacks of fear and doubt we knew the work of deterring the wicked one would be increased. They knew if the Lamb became blemished everything would be for naught.

The virgin did not know what was expected of her when she said that she would be the LORDís servant. But now, as the beginnings of the labor pains seized her, she was beginning to have glimpses of the pain and suffering in her future.

The wicked one attacked her with a fleeting fear of the Romans. They would kill her first-born son before his first breath. The attack was displaced before those thoughts could take root...she knew that the LORD of Hosts would not allow His Son to be killed so easily. With a soft encouragement from a brother, her son would survive to see another day, we continued to maintain our vigil over the virgin as the pains soon became almost too much for her.

The wicked one was attacking her physical body. Determined to kill not only the mother but also the Lamb in one fatal blow. This could not be allowed. The wicked one had pressed us too far now. We revealed ourselves to them, scattering, attacking, and banishing the attackers.

The LORDís power is great, and banishing the wicked one was short work. We then turned our attention to the struggle that was playing out in the physical realm. It was almost time...time to announce to a few simple shepherds of the timeless struggle that had just occurred. And that the Lamb had been born for the final great struggle.

How unique...from an angels point of view. Nice, but I kept looking for the Topic word..."great". Perhaps it was there in "His Birth"... and I kept looking elsewhere. Thanks for sharing.

Interesting to think of the struggle that must have been happening in the spiritual realm at that time!

This is a wonderful story from the POV of the angels! It reads like a chapter in a book....now there's an idea!
