The Twelve “L” Branches of Life
As I sit here and ponder the meaning of the tree of life and all of its hidden branches, I can not help but stop and think about what I have been doing to climb it. Turning thirty-nine last month was difficult, and maybe it is because I have not appreciated all the gifts the Lord has given me. Therefore, I came up with, “The Twelve “L” Branches of Life to help myself and anyone else with these same thoughts.
Branch 1. Love your Lord, your family, friends, neighbors, enemies, and most importantly, love yourself. Remember without love there is nothing.
Branch 2. Listen carefully when your family, friends and neighbors are talking for it shows you care. And listen to that voice inside yourself for it is the Holy Spirit guiding you.
Branch 3. Like your Lord, make Him your friend, and become friends with that image in the mirror, if you don’t like yourself, others will have a hard time liking you too.
Branch 4. Lend a helping hand to family, friends, neighbors, and even enemies…you never know when an enemy might become an ally.
Branch 5. Look for opportunities to serve, minister, and witness to others.
Branch 6. Leave when temptation arises. The evil one will try and deceive you, therefore, know when to retreat from sin, for if you don’t, it will lead to death.
Branch 7. Leisure is knowing when to relax and enjoy the life the Lord has given you. Remember the Lord even rested on day seven after he created the heavens, earth and everything in it.
Branch 8. Learn your Bible and study it well, most of life’s questions are in it.
Branch 9. Lean on God, he is your strength. The Bible reminds us that we can do anything through Him.
Branch 10. Laughter lifts the spirit and a joke a day will keep the doctor away. But, keep it clean!
Branch 11. Labor as if you are working for the Lord. Give 100% of your skills and talents.
Branch 12. Lead your family, friends, and neighbors with honor, courage and truth. Show them the way to God.
This “Twelve Limbs,” above are only the base of the tree. Each branch you grab will lead you closer to the answers to the true meaning of life. Then, once you have passed this world and find true Liberation in the presence of our Lord, you will find comfort in His everlasting, peaceful kingdom.
