My Dear Only One,

I watched you come to life when I breathed My Spirit into you. I wrote sonnets for the birds to sing so that every morning you could hear, “You are not my favorite one. You are my only one.”

I watched you play in the paradise I made for you. I wrote bedtime stories in the stars so that every night you could read, “You are not my favorite one. You are my only one.”

I watched you fall far away from me, far away from the life I had planned for you. I wrote commandments on tablets of stone and then on your heart so that you could remember, “You are not my favorite one. You are my only one.”

I watched you as you waited for your savior. I wrote promises of salvation through prophets’ hands and then became those promises in the flesh so that you could see, “You are not my favorite one. You are my only one.”

I watched you as I hung from the cross. I watched you cast lots for my clothes and reject my love for you. Still, I wrote ‘paid in full’ in my own blood of mercy so that you could know, “You are not my favorite one. You are my only one.”

I watched you search for Truth and run past every false god. I watched you fall again, only this time you fell back into my arms, back into the life I had planned for you. Then I heard you cry, “Father God, You are not my favorite one. You are The Only One.”

I liked the full circle back to us responding to God the way He has responded to us all along. very poetic in style.

If it was ever possible to read with my eyes closed, I could do it with this piece. It was so picturesque. I could visualize your words as I was reading them as if my eyes were closed. This piece is os poetic, it SHOULD BE A POEM. I didn't see any room for improvement, other than to reformulate it into a poem (Yes, I'm very stubborn - smile). I would like to see this piece published someday, so please put it in your portfolio for a future submission. Take a bow....great job!

Very touching and poetic. I liked the full circle that your thoughts seemed to take. Well done.

What a beautiful and touching accounting of God's love for us and how long it takes for us to say those simple words, You are the only one...deeply touching

I agree - very, very touching. How He must long to hear those words from each and every one of us. Thank you for the reminder that He really is the Only One.
