Why?
Darkness,
death wishes,
years of loneliness and grief?
Sickness,
discouragement,
daunting circumstances and despair?

Where
were those
who I needed to walk alongside?
Why were they silent?
When I thirsted for compassion,
why was there no one to fill my cup?

What
was the purpose
for floundering,
failing,
with no one to feel my pain?

Why?
After giving and giving
would no one grant
a listening hear,
a shoulder to cry on,
or grace to see me through?

Why,
oh why,
did it have to hurt so much,
why the lack of a loving touch?

When
I felt lost, confused,
I longed for God
to heal my heart,
hear my cry,
tell me what was happening?

Why?
Now I know,
for His love to show.
His light shines brighter than before.
He beckoned me,
showered me with His grace,
bestowed His joy and peace divine.

Why?
Because God had a plan,
a purpose.
Now He speaks through my pen
to share His words of love
and compassion.

Why?
So in seeing, feeling more of Him,
I might share with others
the hope of healing,
the faith in believing
He’ll do the same for them.

A strong statement of how God resurrects pain into purpose. Suffering so often prepares our hearts to serve!!

Why must we hurt? To experience and foster hope and faith...healing and believing.

Suffering need not be wasted if we allow God to redeem it. Good message.

This speaks of what God sees as our purpose in life - not what WE see as our purpose; very good message!

Free verse, when well done, is one of my favorite kinds of poetry. You know what you're doing! Great message, lovely flow & feel.
Great stuff!
