Living Hope
A Wish is the new born baby stage of Hope. It’s so cute and cuddly but so very tiny and needy.
It grows into Desire, the toddler and preschool ages. Though it has learned to walk and talk, Desire is still very dependent.
Then it continues into the Longing stage—not unlike teenagers amidst their confusing, impatient, sometimes rebellious ways.
If one survives the teen years, next comes the Expectantly Waiting young adult. There is still optimistic anticipation—time for dreams.
Finally, arriving at Trust, the mature stage. How? Through experience of the truth of the Word of God. Romans 15:4 reads, “For whatever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” kjv
God’s Word is not a dead letter—for the Words that He speaks to us...they are spirit and they are life! They speak personally to each and every one of us; for He is no respecter of persons.
If we put our hope in Jesus we won’t be ashamed because...this hope will purify us( I John 3:3).
....it will save us(Romans 8:24)...it will fill us with love(Romans 5:2-5)....and it will lead us into eternal life(Titus 1:2). So let this blessed hope anchor our souls to him, to the end, and for all eternity!
