Spring is in the air! This is the time of year I most enjoy my daily walk. The feel of a gentle breeze on my face, the sky airbrushed with periwinkle blue. I imagine the angels sitting on the fluffy white clouds watching all the activity here on earth. I walk with a bounce to my step, lost in the beauty of this day. Just a couple of weeks ago I had to force myself out the door. The day was dreary and not very inviting. But force myself
I did. As I press on with my morning walk my mind drifts to thoughts of my heavenly Father. I begin asking myself if I’m as diligent about guarding my inner strength as I am my physical strength.
If I allow myself the luxury of delaying my daily exercise, and eat the scrumptious, delectable foods my taste buds ask for, my physical strength will suffer. How frequently do I allow a tight schedule, or interruptions to interfere with my daily devotional/prayer time? I remember how a few days ago I had an early morning meeting. I was rushed and didn’t have my morning devotional. As the day progressed I just didn’t find the time to do it later. How can I hear His still small voice if I’m not in tune with Him?
I continue my walk thinking about God and the countless ways He enhances my life. I grow determined to make Him the priority of each day. Seeking His wisdom and His guidance in each step I take. Basking in the rays of His mercy and His grace, knowing His love is with me each day, no matter what may unfold in its wake. Giving me the inner strength I require to circumvent the pitfalls which are sure to cross my path. David beautifully reflects this in one of the much-loved Psalms.
“The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart greatly rejoices. And with my song I will praise Him.”
Psalms 28:7 NKJV
