I am just going to sit here
Not say a thing
Frozen by fear
Halted by the sting
Of your emaciating control.

I look into your eyes and see your disapproval.
You loom over me and my strength is weak
I feel you want my immediate removal.
You lower the boom; say that I’m a freak.

I feel like my life is unreal
This is just a dream state
I am numb. I can’t feel.
Is this really my fate
To be under your emaciating control?

I feel the warm breath of someone whispering in my ear
“You are greatly loved and wonderfully made.”
The feeling of death vanishes as I sigh a prayer
Stand upright, and say with all my might, “I am not afraid.”

“You are but a man,
You did not speak the worlds in to existence.
You did not rise again,
So with the One and only God’s assistance
I am emancipated from your control”

The phrase "emaciating control" is very powerful. This is a poem just full of true feeling...people in many situations will be able to relate, and to take comfort in the ending.
