TITLE: Why Me?

I'm not the first to say it,
There's no way I'll be the last,
But sometimes life seems so unfair,
And patience is surpassed,
And tho' it's not original
That's not the point you see,
I want to know a simple thing,
Tell me God, WHY ME?

Adam said it, so did Eve,
And Cain and Abel too,
Noah said it 3 days in,
To floating with his zoo,
Abraham was overheard
Jacob was quite clear,
Joseph kept repeating it,
But Moses hardly dared.

Joshua was about to
But then the walls came down,
Samson finally got it,
And brought the temple down,
Gideon was sheepish
So checked it with a fleece,
Samuel, Saul and David,
Each said it once at least.

Elijah said it 'cos he thought,
He'd been left high and dry,
Jonah wished that he had,
And still it was his cry,
Daniel surely whispered it,
As lions eyes lit up,
Jeremiah cried it out,
Lamenting the corrupt.

Zaccheus, he said it,
From way up in his tree,
Lazarus mumbled something,
I'll bet it was 'Why me?'
Peter said it as he sank,
Much to his surprise,
And even Jesus said it,
Just before he died.

So I guess I'm not original,
I s'pose I'm not the first,
God hasn't left me here to rot,
And maybe I'm not cursed,
I'll put my hand in Gods hand,
Close my eyes and grit my teeth,
Then see it as a challenge,
I guess it's called belief.

Excellent. I could feel one with you. The idea is elegant and the expression in verse is simple, clear and makes the point forcefully. May God bless you!

Just read the fish article and this one caught my eye also. This is excellent. You have a great way of bringing a unique eye to a common theme. If you didn't win the writing challenge, you should have been up there in consideration on this piece
