Natural disasters and mans destruction continue to rock America. Many have lost loved ones, jobs, homes, and sometimes all three. At a time of overwhelming grief, victims are forced to start over with little or nothing to count on but God.

However, America stands tall, a people of faith. Medics, police, fire fighters, and people that care risk their own lives to rescue others in need. Many share their time and talents to assist where they can.

Hug givers, door openers, and fund raisers reach out to brothers and sisters in despair. Trucks pour across this land laden with relief. People pull together with the support of prayers. With God at the center, one step at a time, it is possible to begin again.

My dad once said, We remain a great nation because of our generosity. I am proud be an American, one nation under God, rising up and offering hope.

THE Title grabbed me first - then the content wrapped me up with warm and fuzzy patriotism and pride. Thank you for such a profound piece. I loved it and very well written. Short, Sweet and TO THE POINT!

Remember Hands Across America? You made me remember that, standing out in the middle of nowhere holding hands with strangers for no better reason than that we could! You're right, it's great to be an American!

I love your phrase "hug givers, door openers, and fund raisers." We don't have to be in uniform to be a hero! Well done!

Although I am not an American, I have visited several times and feel sad when terrible things happen there. Your article is very much to the point and I admire your sense of patriotism.
