From the start
how do I count the ways
you have been with me each day.
Stepping to the side when I was wrong
guiding me when I was young and strong.
The follies of my sin that did appear before your eyes
since it came into "The Garden of Eden's," paradise.
I came to know your love and grace
since there was an empty space,
a longing for you to take your place.
I didn't know what I was searching for till
the message of a savior's death on the cross did fill
this lonely heart of mine from the start.
A savior's love so divine,
he didn't make us all #nine's.
There has always been since creation of time
someone or something that makes us tick, whether
we choose to acknowledge his power over a bird's feather
or the idiosyncrasies of the weather.
Can you give me a why
as you look up to his name on high
if you refuse to accept his love?
He paid the debt of sin declared from above
so you and I could be set free apart from the start.

I like the way you bracketed your poem with the same phrase "from the start." Try to avoid the construction "did (verb)" as it reads awkwardly. And I'm not clear what the #9 meant. This is a lovely psalm to God...thank you for writing this.

A poem from the heart. Thanks for sharing.
