With the recent onslaught of natural disasters we as Christians can only be at peace and joyfully look to the Heavens for Christ to make his descent upon Earth. I have empathy for the victims of tsunamies, hurricanes, earthquakes, and fires scorching up thousands of acres. The World does not take heed of these warnings and even go as far as worry more about the economical effects on the cities finances. New Orleans was a wake up call to the thousands that have relied on the government for generations through welfare. Their government subsidized housing was taken from them, so instead of using the gifts and abilities that God bestowed upon them, they wait. They would rather wait on a government that is so liberally corrupt, than to place their hopes in the God that created them. I am not bashing New Orleans as a city, but rather as a network of money mongers who care more about their Mardi Gras', Gay Pride Marches, and Superdome. God Bless Preachers like Jessie Duplantis who is raging war in these Dark Cities.
Escape from the pride that is keeping you from experiencing the blessings of God. Escape from the pollution you allow to wallow in your brain, as you ask the Holy Spirit to come in and clean up the mess. Do not blame the weather, do not blame the government, do not blame those who have more than you, "Thou shall not covet". Take a week of getting to know God on a very personable level. Spend every waking moment thinking about him, communicate with him, sing praises to him, laugh with him when you make silly mistakes and most of all thank him for allowing you to escape from the darkness and live in the abundance of his love. Once you have escaped into a pattern of giving all honor and glory to God you will then realize how much easier it is to cope in a world that just doesn't get it.
