My shift was over in an hour, uneventful bit. The stroll back to my car was as moseying as the jaunt to work was rushed. I had no where to be.
And I quite liked the way the mud beneath my quarter inch sole squished with each step. I walked slower and slower as if coming to a stop, and toddled to the left and right as a dancer in warm-up.
The sun warmed the bare back of my shoulder that peeked from my spring jacket. I was happy, but not the kind of happy that cut flowers bring.
I knew someone. Someone, surprisingly invisible. And in my mosey, I was not alone. Walking together felt like pirouetting in cool mist. I inhaled as we walked, cooling my lungs, quenching my thirst.
