In a kingdom beyond man’s vision
Lay a vineyard pure and fair
Where Beloved by the Gardener
Grew a Vine beyond compare

The fruit beloved by the Gardener
When crushed upon Love’s Vine
Would yield a priceless vintage
Of sweet Redemption Wine

Into an earthbound garden
Spilled some drops one grace-filled day
Eden’s man and woman tasted
Redemption’s Wine with lips of clay

Drops spilled throughout the ages
On doorposts and altar stone
Mere shadows of that vintage
In Obedience’s vineyard fully grown

Leaving the Kingdom’s vineyard
The Vine walked on earthen sod
Footprints of Obedience
Pointing to the heart of God

Into Gethsemane’s garden
Beloved, the Vine, the Son
Words of obedience speaking
To the Gardener He had come

The fruit now fully ripened
Knew the crushing yet to run
Desired that cup be lifted
Yet the Gardener’s will He wanted done

So yielding to Love’s Gardener
Whose will flowed throughout the Vine
He submitted to that crushing
Releasing fully Redemption’s Wine

That cup to Heav’n He lifted
A vintage spilling to a cup now mine
That these lips of clay, through mercy
Know the sweet taste of Redemption’s Wine

What an interesting concept - the beloved vine from before time and entering into our world at times throughout history. Beautiful writing. I wonder how the analogy of the Vine could be taken for the future too - Judgement Day, ruling etc.... Something to do with the grapes of wrath??? A lovely piece of writing - thanks!

Absolutely beautiful - especially the last two lines.
