These things I say are true
I hang my head in shame.
This is from this horseís mouth
thereís no one else to blame.

I fell away from God
and ended in the street.
I could not make things right
wore chains upon my feet.

The people did not help;
they only turned away.
They act like Iím not there
not hearing what I say.

Winter was coming on
a thing I have to face.
With rags upon my feet
my lifeís a bitter taste.

As hunger closes in
I lay here near the end.
I cannot find my way
Iím lost without a friend.
A voice from the darkness
was calling out my name.
It simply said, ďReach out,
and things wonít be the same.Ē

A warmth filled my body
I felt so safe at last.
The evilness I lived
faded into the past.

Knowing that the Father
was there to take me home
He cleansed me of my sins
Iím finally not alone.

I know that the angels
surround me with great care.
No longer on the street.
without that load to bear.

So from this horseís mouth
know these words are true.
Reach out for that hand
and God will rescue you.

I like the nice form of this poem. The second and fourth lines had the rhyming words. (I did not check every verse.)

Getting the rhyming words may take the most time. Good work.

What you write is true whenever anyone believes that Jesus was crucified but rose again and was made both Lord and Christ and repents and is baptized for the forgiveness of their sin, they are a child of God because they were given his gift of the Holy Spirit.

Your poem forms are good and seem to come easy for you. Keep writing in this form, especially if you like it best.

Very touching poem. My husband lived for a year on the streets before coming to the Lord. Sometime we come to the end of our rope before turning to the only One who can help us out of our misery.

Very well written! Blessings!
