On the Mount of Olives
Is the Garden Gethsemane,
A place so lush and lovely –
A place so heavenly.

Jesus went there often
For solitude and prayer.
He sought the Holy Spirit
And God the Father there.

Jesus ached for the garden
One holy Passover night.
The feat for man’s redemption
Was coming into sight.

Jesus yearned for silence,
So solemn and so brave.
His heart was over burdened
To give life beyond the grave.

The disciples followed Jesus
Into this garden deep.
Wistful o’er the day’s events.
They went and fell asleep.

Oh, how they loved Jesus,
And they vowed not to betray.
They thought their love was steadfast;
They’d never walk away.

Jesus fell onto the ground
As God’s begotten Son.
“Let this cup pass from me,
But let your will be done.”

The greatest feat in history
Was coming to unfold,
Sin, death, evil – flesh and blood –
The Greatest Story Ever Told.

Jesus knew the time was right
For a passion crude and brutal.
To shed his blood upon the cross,
God’s plan would not be futile.

Jesus prayed most fervently
To the Father up above.
He couldn’t bear to be apart
From the Father and his love.

An angel came to strengthen him.
He was to pay the price.
For man’s redemption spiritually,
He was God’s sacrifice.

Precious drops of Christ’s blood
Sweaty splashes in the sand
Tell of Jesus’ saving power
O’er all the earth’s great land.

We thank the Holy Savior
For the deed he did that day.
He conquered death, gave us life
And took our sins away.

Luke 22:39-46

Wow. This is so real.

This is really lovely. The words just flow off the page naturally yet telling the most wonderful story ever. You have a natural gift of forming the words just so. I also enjoyed the subtle, yet powerful reference to the topic. It was just the right touch.

I felt the Lord's presence and could sense the anointing that came over you as the words flowed so powerfully, yet beautifully.

Thank you! God bless~

Your poem was well-written and thought out, expressing a true appreciation for our Savior and what He did for us by His sacrifice. Thank you for this beautiful reminder.
