I’m sitting here lamenting
On what I’m going to do.
I just lost a hundred pounds
A struggle I went through.
Some nights I heard it calling
It comes from in my mind.
It tells me of the goodies
Where they are and what kind.
Oh how hungry I can be
When food calls out my name.
Everything I tried has failed
It comes out just the same.
But God’s here to help me
Assist me to stay on track.
He promised he would be there
And will not take that back.
The hunger that I suffer
Is to feed upon the word.
It fills my soul with substance
The best I’ve ever heard.
Sometimes the evilness
Tries to take it away.
But God gives me the strength
He gives it when I pray.
In heaven there’s a banquet
That will feed all mankind.
The angels have prepared it
Made it turn out fine.
So if you have a hunger
That food does not fill.
It will be a saving grace
If on your knees you kneel.
No longer is forgiveness
The thing you really need.
The banquet of salvation
Will truly set you free.
