A strident conversation intruded as Maisie browsed along the rack, looking for her favourite magazine.

“Look at that, she’s done it again!”

“Nicole, Ange, Jennifer, look at them all, the paparazzi trying to catch them out in their latest affairs.”

“Ooh, look at this, who is she with this time?”

Maisie snatched her National Geographic and flung it in her shopping basket as she took off to the next aisle.

What was this obsession with the private lives of celebrities? Talk of affairs and unfaithfulness, which may or may not be true, was unsettling; she didn’t want to know about that trash.

Shopping finished, Maisie drove home. Brian helped her unload the groceries and put them away. Maisie looked at him as they settled to a cup of tea.

“Do you ever think of having…….” she stopped. What an unfair question.

“Do I ever think of having what?” he queried.

“Oh, nothing, I was just thinking of travel again. You used to be away occasionally with your work, and now since your retirement we haven’t been anywhere. Do you ever think of having another trip, maybe to China like in these pictures here, or somewhere exotic?” She showed him the stunning photos in the new magazine.

He laughed. “I would take you anywhere in the world you want to go,” he said. “I thought you didn’t want to travel and leave the grandchildren. We mightn’t be able to afford much luxury, but we could plan for something, I’m sure, if you want to.”

“The main thing is that we are together,” she told him. “I really don’t mind if we travel or stay home, as long as you are with me.”

Later Maisie settled to read in Proverbs, her favourite book of the Bible. ‘Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favour and a good name in the sight of God and man.’

I am so blessed to have Brian’s love and faithfulness, she thought. I don’t need to worry about other people like celebrities and whether they are having any current affairs or not. My blessing is to be faithful to Brian and to God, and enjoy the treasure of their love and faithfulness to me. Thank you, Lord.

Love how the MC grabs the Bible and reads the most important of ALL. Proverbs is one of my favorites too.

Thank you for this lovely entry that holds great meaning in the words.

God Bless~
