The toddler I baby-sit for stood mesmerized, her eyes like two huge blue orbs in her small round face. Tiny smudged hand prints stood out on the widescreen TV’s smooth shiny surface from where she’d leaned against it earlier. I walked into the room just in time to catch yet another magician casting a spell, only one of such scenes in the children’s programming I was becoming all too familiar with.

Where had Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny, and the Roadrunner gone? I wondered. But really I knew. They were relics of the past, my past.

True, I’d once been, and am still, fascinated by “The Tales of the Arabian Nights” and such mystical, wondrous stories. Genies, wizards, and good-witch, bad-witch scenarios like those in “The Wizard of Oz” once held me spellbound. Were they that much different from those depicted today? Or were they precursors, forerunners meant to normalize the magic arts so that each successive generation would accept their open practice as acceptable?

In this light, I believe that this progressive conditioning is only one part of a comprehensive diabolical scheme conceived by Satan working through the media to bring our children down. While we are experimenting in the kitchen, Satan is doing the same with our kids’ minds in the living room. Our impressionable children under the age of eight have an undeveloped moral standard; they accept as normal, behavior that goes unpunished or uncorrected. Is shape shifting, spell casting, levitation, holding séances something we consider acceptable? Will we know if, or at what point, our child accepts these things as normal?

Is watching the practice of telling the future through Crystal Balls, mediums, and using ouija boards to consult spirits spiritually healthy for children in Christian households? This is what I saw portrayed regularly on the children’s shows during prime-time viewing in the middle of the day.

In Revelation 22:14-15, it says, “Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral…...

I think another aspect of this long-term attempt to seduce children – a strategy by Satan that catches my attention and breaks my heart – is the promotion of blatant promiscuity. Today, sexual morality is almost non-existent; the terms chastity and purity are generally considered archaic. In sitcoms and movies, many people live with opposite-sex partners in plain view. What was once frowned upon is today, unlike in the past, endorsed.

We might teach our kids not to have intimate relations with the opposite sex, but the schools undermine us by educating our kids about “safe” sex. By providing contraceptives and condoms to our youth, we numb them, and ourselves, against guilt and fear of consequences.

In a British study suggesting strong moral decline has happened in a too short amount of time, Professor Paul Whitely, states, “It appears Britons are growing more and more tolerant of low level dishonesty and less inclined to sanction activities which would have been heavily frowned on in the past.” Doesn’t this alone indicate that we need to closely monitor what our children watch on TV?

In the Bible, according to Proverbs 22:6, the training of our children is left by God, primarily, up to us. When facing the Lord, we can’t very well say, “Lord, I had things to get done. I was too busy ….”

You have said a mouthful of truths...A wonderful and prolific entry as to what "ails" the world today. Your entry is but a glimpse, or microcosm of the depravity that is rampant in the world today.

Thank you for this excellent entry. God Bless you~
