The Nerd
I’m one of them they called a nerd
I know the meaning of every word.
Make all A’s in my local school
Always following the rules.
Some of the bullies don’t like me
It causes me great misery.
In the bathroom they’re on my case
In my locker they hide my face.
My mom said, “It’s just a phase
Soon they will start to act their age.”
She was wrong it went on and on
Singing that morbid song.
I felt so bad I turned away.
No one to hear what I say.
Finally I’ve given up
Can’t drink from a broken cup.
As I sit here on this stone
Feeling empty and so alone.
I feel this presence all around
From the sky onto the ground
I look around could see no one
I heard a voice say, “I’m the Son
Come with me we can be strong.
I’m here to help you get along.”
“I know one who’ll help the most
He is called the Holy Ghost.
We can be strong wait and see
Calm your soul and set you free.
I don’t know but now I find
I always end up first in line.
The bullies seem to fade away
Haven’t seen them to this day.
Before the Father we will bow
My threefold cord has shown me how.
I can do is how I feel
The strength is here I know it’s real.
Now I know through pain and strife
It will be with me all my life.
You say, “This seems too hard to do
You don’t know what I’m going through.”
I’ll tell you how my story ends
Gathered here with all my friends.
And if you want to be a part.
Just ask Jesus into your heart.
