Dear Jeannie,

What a great time we’ve had discussing all sorts of things lately. I do appreciate your friendship and your deep thinking on many issues.

However, I feel there is something holding you back in our spiritual discussions. We’ve talked about how to find God and know security for your future. I’ve shared my heart with you, and you know the way of salvation; how to accept God for yourself and to know his deep peace in your heart. I don’t want to see you live the rest of your life without knowing God.

I’ve decided that I’m not going to nag you or try and persuade you any more, because your faith in God can’t come from my persuasion. Remember we looked together at some of the letters of Paul who lived not long after Jesus. He wrote to his friends that his preaching was not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that their faith would not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.¹

I’m sure God has great things in store for you, and is just longing for you to turn your life over to him, so you can both get on with life together. This has to happen with the Spirit’s power so that your faith is strong in God, not in my words.

So, no more persuading, no more pleading! I am here for you, you know that, and will be happy to discuss these things any time you ask. I will be praying madly for you all the time that God will give you a special revelation of himself and show you his power and love.

In the meantime, I look forward to continuing our fun times together.

See you next week,

Your friend always,

Samantha.

I enjoyed this. I thought it was quite clever to put it into letter format.
