Whatís YOUR Price?

Thirty pieces of silver, the price for slaves,
was given to Judas, our Lord to betray.
Then Peter, in fear and in midst of great strife
denied he even knew, the Lord of his life.

It is easy to note such sin of others
and hard to admit when we do discover,
how many times and then in how many ways
have we, too, sold out, for our comfort to save.

Many labor for gold and all such treasures
while others live for all of this lifeís pleasures.
The devil believes and about many, heís right,
we all would sell out, if the price was just right.

In Johnís revelation, we read of first love,
betrayed for things below in place of things above.
So when the devil comes with his gift in hand.
Will you sell out, or will you then take a stand?

I don't normally enjoy rhyming poetry, but this one worked. I loved the theme and simplistic message that ran through. It's thought provoking enough so that it made me sit afterward for a moment thinking of all the times Satan has offered me a "gift" to sellout, without it feeling preachy. Well written!
