Drop out, sometimes that’s how I feel about life, I just want to drop out, go to a foreign land where I can’t speak the language and nobody knows my name.

Are you ever in that kind of defunct state of life?

Everyday we turn on the television and hear more bad news – more wars; more economic woes; and let’s not mention all the natural disasters occurring at an alarming rate. What about those insufferable commercials telling us if we don’t take this or that wonder drug we will all die of one disease or another – maybe even of all of them at once!

It’s enough to make your hair curl, or go straight, depending on your type of hair, of course.

Dropping out of society for awhile seems like a great solution. You could reinvent yourself – you know play pretend like you did when you were young. Now I know you are all saying this one is a real loon, really I am just trying to get you to think.

With the world as it is today being a Christian and having hope for yourself as well as for others is no small feat. Yes, I know other generations have had their share of hardships as well.

But it seems to me we are living in a time of great crisis. Our faith and even the fact that faith will exist at all in the future is in question. Even amongst family members you may find yourself the only believer and subsequently be ridiculed for believing such nonsense.

However, in the midst of all of this I do believe sometimes we can drop out of society for awhile. We need to go someplace quiet, just us and the Lord to recharge, to be reminded of truth and what we are living for. It’s easy to get caught up in life’s messes and if we are not careful, taken down by them. Life is hard and sometimes downright heartbreaking. We need to refuel so we can cope, have strength and move forward in God’s plan and purpose for us.

After all, didn’t Jesus drop out of society at times to get reconnected with the Father, His source of life?

I agree whole-heartedly with this statement, "We need to go someplace quiet, just us and the Lord to recharge." And, yes, Jesus did go off by Himself to pray. You captured many aspects of "drop out" here. Thanks!

So very true about Jesus going off alone to get reconnect with Christ. All believers need to do that to stay connected with the vine. Keep writing.
