You had gone away from me that lonely day
And I was quickly gripped by the loss
For your smile became a fleeting memory
That I needed to regain at any cost
We have only been married a couple of years
Yet it seems to be so much more
For as you did board the plane to leave me
Inside my heart I did become so sore
I began to think of all the blessings
That you did surely bring to me each day
For the feelings I felt during those moments
Were always more than my lips could say
I did realize the beautiful intrinsic value
Of what the Lord allowed us to share
When we were joined together in marriage
Gladly becoming one heart from what was once a pair
For the moments spent are truly lovely treasures
Whose beauties never seem to fade away
Even at the times when we are not together
The tranquil moments do always seem to stay
And I wanted to share my heart this day with you
though you had already gone away
So I decided to sit and write you a letter
Full of all the things that my heart wanted to say
And I would put all my joy within this letter
Along with each moment of timeless despair
Putting down everything that came to me at that time
For I wanted all my thoughts to be so clear
So that as your eyes did one day receive each line
With all the feelings that my heart would say
You would conjure up many sweet memories
Why in our marriage you would always stay
And though you will be gone for only a week
I do promise each day I will make the time
To sit down and write more heartfelt letters
For this beautiful love who I know is mine
And I will pray each day for your safe return
That I may feel your soft loving embrace
Hoping I will not have to write many more letters
And of their joy and pain no longer have to taste
For while alone my heart becomes too weary
as my inner spirit is wrecked by separation’s pain
And my heart dually sings out happy and lonely songs
Written in this letter that embraces your name
And maybe one day it will become a keepsake
A monument that will always stand the test of time
In case you too find a lonely, insecure moment
Reminding you how much I missed this love of mine.
