The day began untarnished,
One tranquil Sunday morning,
The birds were singing praises,
Their songs gave no warning.

The sun was shining brightly,
The heavens smiled upon me,
I savored every moment,
Like a jar of potpourri.

I arrived at my station,
And marveled at the sight,
What sweet angelic faces,
This would be such a delight.

Little Jack with his argyle,
Susie in her Mary Janes,
And a handful of others,
Looking dapper just the same.

I had a great agenda,
The whole lesson planned with care,
A snack, a song, a story,
And end it all in prayer.

I brought them to the table,
And assured them we would eat,
I turned for just a moment,
Then realized my defeat.

Eek! One jumped on my back,
Two others held my legs,
I never saw it coming,
Not even time to beg.

Jack was not so little,
And Susie had a rope,
I had been outnumbered,
It seemed I had no hope.

They tied me to a chair,
And put me in time out,
They even gagged my mouth,
After I let out a shout.

At last they had their way,
A haven without rules,
The teacher had been conquered,
That day in Sunday School.

-Inspired by my fears each time I teach my group of 3 year olds.

Okay, must admit I was puzzled until the end and it gave me quite a chuckle. Loved the word dapper in here also, haven't heard it in ages.

Exactly why I don't teach Sunday School...

Cute poem!

Definitely different than my 2 & 3's. A fun story.

You gave me my first Smile of the Day! (*.*) Thanks! Loved this little poem! Witty and staged so nicely. Kudos!

This is funny. Comedy and a poem to boot, great job.

That last line said it all! Lots of fun!
