Politics are a subject that is to be avoided at all costs in certain circles. Whether you are Democrat, Republican, Independent or any other party affiliation, to say that you do not like the political habits of a politician seems to be a personal insult to some. As of late, I have been accused of being everything from un-American to racist. People just don’t seem to understand that you may dislike someone’s political views and actions regardless of their ethnic background. If their statements were true, wouldn’t that make them racist as well? I happen to believe that in America we should be free to both like and back a candidate, or not. That is something that makes America, America, and it should be left up to an individual’s discretion. Those that oppose my opinions would certainly not appreciate my attacking their views or their personal political opinions. I wish that they would understand that it hurts just as much for them to attack my views as it would for me to attack theirs. Ow!

Good point. Thanks!

How true your story is. We all suffer from short sightedness. The Bible says judge not lest you be judged but how quickly we forget. Thanks for sharing.

Something for us all to take to heart, to be sure.

The "Ow!" factor seemed almost an afterthought--perhaps if you expanded this, you could make the topic tie-in a bit stronger.

I've started a class in the FaithWriters forums for Beginner and Intermediate writers. I'd love to see you there--look for "Jan's Writing Basics".

Thanks for sharing your candid opinions for us to think about!

Yes, it does seem like some people think that the saying "everyone is entitled to his own opinion" only applies to them. Thanks for the reminder.
