In Genesis, it says that God created heaven and earth. The creator of all things, our heavenly Father carefully sculpted each snow-white peak of earth’s majestic mountains. He used the most beautiful blue and green hues to color the world’s oceans. Those same skilled hands sowed herbs of every flavor and formed animals of every size and shape. Our Lord blessed us with flowers of every color and fragrance.
Yahweh knew variety was not only the spice of life; it was a necessity. Yes, He so loved His people that He created them, too, in different shades, shapes, and sizes. Each person brings his or her own uniqueness.
In New York, where I live, we are abundantly blessed. We have people from every background, every country, and every race. Such riches gathered into one small corner of the world! There is much to learn and share, if we can take in a viewpoint other than our own.
As I reflect on my own relationships, I feel blessed to have people from every race, several countries, and both sexes among my closest friends. These gems add interest, excitement, and fresh new perspectives to my life. And, of course, they add new flavors to my meals!
One might say God planted the very first root of diversity, giving us the colorful world in which we live. Each flower, each mountain, each ocean, and indeed, each of us brings something special to our world. In the immortal words of the great Louis Armstrong, what a wonderful world!
