You walked on earth a simple man,
My sins you had to bear,
Without a case to carry them,
Each one was so unfair.

I overheard another say,
You carried their sins too,
Without a case to carry them,
I still don't have a clue.

You felt my angry words,
My thoughts of guilt and shame,
Without a case to carry them,
They caused you so much pain.

Divorce, discord and bitterness,
Bad decisions that I made,
Without a case to carry them,
Too high of price you paid.

My precious heavenly Father,
They nailed you to that tree,
Without a case to carry them,
You died to set me free.

Up the hill, and on that cross,
My sins ran through your veins,
Without a case to carry them,
Each one left vibrant stains.

Out of the grave you rose,
No sins you had to haul,
Without a case to carry them,
To Heaven you were called.

It is only by your grace,
Each stain is white as snow,
I don't know how you carried them,
You love me, this I know!

Wow! You got a winning poem here. I like the way you focused on God using this week's unique theme, Luggage. Yes, indeed, He carried no case, but He carried the sins of the world including mine. By the grace of God, we are here to share His glory. Thank you for sharing the gift that He gave you. I God bless!

Very powerful indeed. I liked the repetition of "without a case." It was a beautiful reminder that He was the case that carried them all.
Jan Ackerson 08/26/05
Very effective use of repitition, with the change in the last stanza.

An incredible and beautiful poem. Congrats on placing in the winner's circle - it was well-deserved.
