The green hillside turned red that day as wailing echoed through the hills. Crimson rivers flowed on the trampled ground and burned into the soil laying it desolate. Despair hung in the air, scorching everything in its path. With His last breath the veil of hope was torn in two.
The earth cried out in painful sobs, crumbling boulders as it shook. Fear swept through the land as day turned into night. The stained earth blanketed in darkness hiding the ugly truth below. Chaos grew as the reality set in, the enemy had won. The rough cross stood alone bearing the painful memories of a life lost and a savior gone.
The sun did rise again in the gray sky, yet the green grass was gone. It was a time of rest, a time to mourn a good friend. The sun’s rays warmed the blood stained earth and stench screamed with injustice. Pain ran through the heart of those who knew His love.
At night, a healing rain trickled down from the heavens, washing away the crimson stains. A sweet breeze held His breath, announcing His return. The old worn cross was encircled with new life. Green plants sprung up on the hillside, once trampled with despair.
Hope peeked out of the brown earth and stretched towards the heavens. Birds sang lullabies as they soared through the sky on the wings of angels. On the moss covered stone he sat, waiting to give the good news. New life had come, green pastures had arrived. Jesus had risen!
