The daytime sky has slowly drifted
Into the starry twilight of the night
I cannot help but smile at Heaven's perfect gift
Such an image of perfection, such a perfect little sight
My heart melts as I gaze into your face
And hold your tiny little hand
Momentarily your slumber is seemingly so undisturbed
Silently I realize your life is so much more of a bigger plan
A gentle yawn, a gentle stifle and then a stir
Precious blue eyes gaze upon my face
I want to your hold little body forever
And never let you out of my motherly embrace
Blue is the color of my tears
And the color of my aching heart
Knowing my little girl must grow up
This world will one day pull us so far apart
My eyes gaze upon your sleeping body
Hoping to capture every small breath you take
Capturing this moment forever in my mind
Knowing another fleeting moment has passed with another small ache
I gather my strength as I gently carry you away
Forever the beautiful sleeping baby in my arms
I promise I will always love you
And to protect always from harm
Blue is the color of peace and of pain
And the color of my love
The calm of moments passed and those still yet to come
Knowing how perfect of a gift you are, from heaven-sent above
The calming winds will blow, the blue waves will crash
But I want you to forever know, my love for you will forever last
