Red is one of our primary colors. Along with blue and yellow, it mixes to create every other color that ever existed. Of the three, it's the one that most represents life.

Red is the color of blood, the container of our physical lives. In the blood of Christ, it also gives us our spiritual life. Because this life is to whosoever will come, all should also be able to know the color red. For those that can see, red speaks for itself. But, what do you tell the blind so they can experience, red.

Tell them its the color that shouts and won't be silenced. First, it proclaims man's guilt for, sin is not black but, red. It is the color of our guilt of murder when we hate. It is the guilt of the hammer in the hand of those that reject Christ.

Tell them that this color also sings a love song. It's the gift of love heard in the words, "Father foregive them...", sung to the accompaniment of the hammer's ring.

They must also understand, when a gift is given it has no effect unless it is accepted. When someone reaches out and takes hold of this gift, red gives one more shout as Christ's blood is applied to the sin stain of a repentant heart. It is the voice of the saints, in the presence of the angels, as red is applied to red and results in a brilliant white. Now, red speaks of the warm song of love and life that plays in the regenerated heart.

There are some that can neither see or hear, they can only feel. What do we relate to them to explain red. Let them feel it's heat. First, they must experience the burning of sin guilt in their souls. Then they can be touched with the warm glow of the love offered through Jesus's sacrifice. When it is accepted, they can feel the radiating glow of true life and it's comfort to their soul.

Red, a color to be known through sight, sound and feel. It's the basic color of life, of both body and soul.

Very intense, like the color red, and thought provoking.

I like your idea of describing the color in terms of other senses.

I'd suggest that you start with a stronger, more interesting "hook".

This really captures "redness" very well! Nice read.

Very interesting piece with a unique "slant" and a bit of poetic quality in places.

My favorite lines are the following:

"its the color that shouts and won't be silenced. First, it proclaims man's guilt for, sin is not black but, red. It is the color of our guilt of murder when we hate. It is the guilt of the hammer in the hand of those that reject Christ.

Tell them that this color also sings a love song. It's the gift of love heard in the words, "Father foregive them...", sung to the accompaniment of the hammer's ring."

I look forward to reading more of your work!

This makes for an excellent devotional piece. I loved your description of red and how it relates to our Christian walk and to life in general.

I agree that a stronger introduction would help. There's so much great material after the intro that it would be sad if someone stopped reading because the piece didn't catch their attention or draw them in during the opening sentences.

I throoughly enjoyed reading this and wished it hadn't stopped. Good job! :)

I enjoyed reading this piece. I have to agree, though, that your opening paragraph didn't really draw me in. Tweak it a little, and you'll have a wonderful article.

Great job with this thought provoking piece as you explained the color in ways that did not pertain to sight only. My suggestion would be to just delete the opening paragraph, because after that I was hooked.
