Evening shadows fall,
Softening shapes and colours;
Grey in all its shades descends,
Deepening slowly
To a rich velvety black.

Stillness;
Starlight;
Silver moon rising
Over the earth void;
Where hours before
Trees and houses and cars,
Children on bicycles,
Jogging men and gossiping women
Cluttered the space
With form and noise and busyness.

My thoughts merge slowly
Into the darkness,
Becoming one
With the blessed emptiness
As cares and worries fade.

Loving Lord
Light of my life,
Lover of my soul,
Comes quietly
To meet me,
Wrapping my mind
With grace and peace and joy,
Dissolving my daylight doubts and distresses
In the deepness of His being.

I bend my head
And open my heart;
Quiet words,
Suffused with hope,
Whisper a prayer into the silent night.

Heart beats;
Hope rises;
He hears,
And speaks His silent grace
Into my soul anew,
Lifting me out
Of the daylight darkness
To the place where the hope flame flickers and flares,
Illuminating my subterranean soul.

I close my eyes
And sleep comes,
Drawing me in
To that place of refreshing
Where dreams are sweet and He holds me safe.

Darkness dissipates;
Dawn breaks and
Daylight rises,
And I stretch
And greet the risen morn,
Savouring my reborn being
And the promise of His light-bearing presence
Through all the now-shadowed challenges of this new-made day.

Beautiful...If we could only go to this place more often, the Grace in our life would not be so silent...

This poem had a therapeutic effect on me as I read your well chosen words that describe the peace we find in Christ. Thank you for this. Congrats on your placement.
