I am just a pilgrim passing through. Yeah I said Pilgrim, and no I’m not John Wayne, the Duke, but I will say “How are you doing pilgrim?”
Today was just a reminder that my time on earth is not permanent, as the Lord woke me with these words-
You woke me up again this morning Lord; you set my feet on solid ground. You breath the breath of life into me Lord, you spoke the word and I was found. Caught between two worlds alone am I, you’re my strength to carry on. I give to you my fears and cries; I have found I’m not alone. This task between me, I must carry on, no way to tell when I’ll come home. But, while I’m here I’ll be true. All I want to do is come on home.
There’s a time that we, as children of God, come to a place that we empty ourselves from all desires, from all hopes, from all existence from this earth. Longing for freedom, for redemption, to be clothed with immortality. To be stripped from all the cares of this life, to be transformed in the fullness of Christ’s image. Our spirits cry out “Abba, Father!” We, like Jesus, cry out to God that he take the cup from us.
We earnestly want Him, more than life itself.
We have our passport, our destination is planned, and we no longer wish to be in a world that is dying around us. We no longer want to be mistreated, misunderstood, and taken for granted.
All we want to do is go on home.
