The Thirumalai Palace whispers secrets from the walkways of its royal courts. Glorious arches spread heavenward capped by meticulously crafted domes; carved with lavish details. Columned porticoes surround the inner court garden, bespeaking of grandeur and power. The now empty arched hallways are gorgeous passages; once traversed by royalty and servants alike.

I have long appreciated the splendor of ancient architecture, when an abundance of detail adorns all the facades of a structure. Buildings, such as Thirumalai Palace, emanate timeless beauty, adorned with workmanship far too time consuming and expensive for todayís tastes. These monuments, crafted by renowned architects, capture the imagination of any willing to appreciate their extravagance. India teems with several millennia of architectural gems, a visible history written for all to see; one of power, beauty, and might.

The Thirumalai Palace, created at the bequest of one man, required a host of workmen to bring its design to fruition. It involved brick layers, artisans, engineers and architects as well as the brawn of elephants, to simply enable one manís dream to come to reality; a visible mark of his existence. How much more then is our world an act of the greatest architect of all; a mark of His existence? No exorbitant work force was required. The Bible simply states that God spoke the world into being. The power and strength of His Word fashioned life; He designed something from nothing, a feat unparalleled by any other.

Thirumalai Palace is now an empty shell of ancient splendor. It is maintained by keepers, its glory day passed. The earth teems with life, all kept by God; an enigmatic achievement defying all our abilities. A design that is time itself, the beginning of the realization of Godís grace and love for his creation. Earth and heavens are adorned with workmanship too incompressible for our finite minds; lavished with details too small for the naked eye. It is a visible record for all mankind to see, of Godís power, creativity, and might.

I will always appreciate the beauty of ancient architecture. Thirumalai Palace is a visible history written by the hand of man. The earth, however, whispers its secrets to those who will seek them. The glorious arc of its sphere hangs perfectly balanced in the heavens. The grandeur of the universe bespeaks of Godís infinite power; its design created by the hand of God, who alone traverses all time.

Great descriptions in this piece. I also liked the parallels you drew with the building and God.
