TITLE: The Adventure of One He Holds Dear
By laura williams

The Adventure of One He Holds Dear

Iím thinking of going camping, though Iíve never been. It will be interesting to see how this will turn out. Iíve never been one for living off the land, however I think this will be a good experience for me. My preacher said to try and find all the things around me that is God. I donít have a clue what he means by that, but to humor him I said ďokĒ.

Day 1:
Early light (too early light) and I am on my hike to find the perfect place to make camp. I can feel the sun wrapping its warmth around me as I walk. In a very strange way it is almost like through these beams of sun God is wrapping His arms around me in the warmest embrace I have ever had.

Day 2:
Heard a little spring last night somewhere in the distance. I never did know exactly where it was located. But it was wonderful to hear, because I was not able to sleep. That was like a sweet little lullaby from my Father so His little girl could sleep peacefully.

Day 3:
While looking for some vegetation I smelled the sweetest breath on the wind. I realized this breath could only come from the Lord. He was all around me and I talked with Him for hours.

Day 4:
I have to leave for home today. I really want to stay here. It is hard to leave one home for another. Especially one as close to God as this one, but He can be anywhere I ask Him to be if I just ask Him.

The preacher seemed pleased that I could find God in so many places while out on my camping adventure. Imagine how many more places I can find Him if I just look.
Then again I might not have to look, if I sit very still He may just embrace me again.

A beautiful diary of God's presence in our lives that we sometimes take for granted. Thanks for sharing your talent!

That's sort of like "be still and know that I am God" Nice story.

I really enjoyed this "be still and know that I am God" type article. If only the scales were truly dropped from our eyes.

Very nicely done this diary. Yes, you will find Him and He will embrace you because now you know He is everywhere you are.

Nice journal of your camping experiences. However, your not understanding the preacher is well understood, since he told you something erroneous. The things God makes are not God, they are only his gifts to show us how wonderful He is. I think you somewhat understand this from your article. Also, it is impossible to experience God through 'nature' without the word of God. The sunset is beautiful, but I see God in it when I remember, "The heavens declare the glory of God." Otherwise I'm just looking. God is revealed in power and beauty in love in His word. His glory is also seen in nature. You dealt with one side, add the other - it will be beautiful.

Thanks for sharing this.

Well done. You (or your character) set off to find the things that reveal God and surprise surprise you learn he can me found everywhere!
