Christmas Breakfast

Humbled hands are folded to pray

This blessed dawn of Christmas Day.

Morning sunlight has kissed the snow

Hearts awaken and stay aglow.

Young children start to walk down the stair,

Warmly dressed, having combed their hair.

Into the kitchen is where I begin

The fixings for this Celebration.

I fill all the teacups to the brim

While singing softly my favorite hymn.

Warm pancakes with nutmeg -gently spiced

Smell delightful and taste quite nice.

Happy faces will gather round

The breakfast table with joyful sound.

We share our good thoughts and prayers out loud

Among the angels in our happy crowd.

In the near distance church bells ring

All morning long for Christ our King.

God’s Child is the true Light to embrace

Having changed our hearts with abundant grace.

At our Christmas breakfast we smile and cheer

Thankful for this season each time of every year.
