From the Father’s heart
the game was born
and meant to be played
by all children in Father’s world.
The rules were few,
though hard to do,
the motivation for the game
was love.

The Father created this game
with his children in mind;
he blessed it,
and called it good.
The winners received
abundant life,
joyfully fulfilled.

He watched as we played,
the mistakes that we made,
gave us guides
to help as we played.
Yet we always wanted
to play our own way
ignoring the help that he gave.

We’d cheat and
we’d quarrel
to try to be first,
we wanted the most
and the best,
forgetting the rule that
the one who’d be first,
must be the one who
is last.

We’d make our own rules
and try to exclude
the children
that we didn’t like.
Forgetting the game
was made to be played
by all the children together,
forgetting the rule
that for all to win
we must help and
love one another.

The Father was sad
that we’d misused his game,
ignoring his rules
and advice.
So he himself came
to show us the way the
game was supposed
to be played.

But, we laughed
and we mocked,
ridiculed and scoffed,
threw the pieces
back in his face.
In a fit of rage,
we destroyed the game
he so lovingly gave
to us.

But the Father knew
the final rule,
the secret to winning
his game.
The sacrifice of
a loving life
will win the game
for another.

We continue to play
the Father’s game,
and sometimes we
play by the rules.
We learn and grow,
his love we sow,
as we play our Father’s game.

I enjoyed your poem. It is perfectly on-topic and on-message. Well done.

Excellent poem.

The only thing I see that may be changed is the pronouns referring to God. I think they would be better capitalized. It's probably not a huge thing though, I believe some don't do that.
