Put on the smile, say the right words
I fooled them all, it was a snap
Move the pawn, play with confidence
I fooled them all, it was a snap
Accept the challenge, dance with grace
I fooled them all, it was a snap
Find my mark, recite the lines
I fooled them all, it was a snap
Look in the mirror, no one knew me
I fooled them all, it was a snap

Reflected back is
Someone I don’t know
I fooled them all
And then I snapped

Old ways won’t work now that I’m in college
I’ll just be myself, it’ll be a snap
A required course causes fear
I’ll fool them just this once, it’ll be a snap
Don’t understand the game, will have to fake confidence
I fooled them all, it was a snap
Avoid challenges; let them think I don’t care
I fooled them all, it was a snap
Forget the mark, stay backstage
Being myself, it was a snap

Looking in the mirror I recognize
Someone who plays many roles
I fool them all
It’s a snap

Powerful and more than just a bit like all of us, I'm afraid. We all put on our pretenses and hide our challenges...God knows us, though, and we know ourselves.

The second stanza speaks volumes, "And then I snapped." Great job with the topic.

This poem brought lots of images to mind, reflections of the poet's soul.

Well written peek into a sad mind. Great job with the topic.
