Snap is such a clever word
so versatile, expressive,
it describes so well when I
am grouchy or obsessive.

Donít tell me to snap out of it
when I am feeling blue,
I might just snap your head off,
and then what will you do?

But then Iíll make a snap back,
Iíll recover my aplomb,
Iíll snap my fingers, tap my toes,
and sing a snappy song!

Or maybe Iíll snap to it
Ďstead of lounging in the sun,
Iíll just whistle while I work, you see,
and Snap! The job is done.

Our bodies use this wondrous word
but just a few Iíll mention,
so you wonít miss a single one,
now, please snap to attention.

Our eyes will snap and sparkle
when weíre happy or weíre mad,
our mouths snap shut to keep us
from those words we know are bad.

Our fingers snap to music,
and when good ideas form,
we snap to get attention,
or derisively, in scorn (Oh, Snap!)

And when weíre feeling snappy,
doing great and looking good,
thereíll be a snap in our footsteps
to match our lively mood.

So, I hope that I have given snap
the honor it is due
because this little snip-snap
of a poem is all through.

Wow! What an excellent poem. I've tried writing poetry, but it isn't my forte. You have written a poem that describes the topic very well. Thank you.

Congratulations Linda, I see a love for words and note your work with children with Special Needs. I used to do this and now work with adults with Learning difficulties- great challenge and great joy when I see some progress see "In my element".
