You can’t hear the harmony here but it is one of the best of all of Mom’s 20+ songs but it is the message that rocks. From the beginning of time God knew where you’d be at any given moment and He wanted you. His son shed His blood for you, and He’ll plead with you but He won’t force you to choose Him. Most of all, He’s patient. He’s waited 2000+ years.
Mom didn’t make Jesus wait for her too long. She accepted Him when she was 10 or 11. Dad made Jesus wait a little longer while he was busy making mistakes which landed him in jail. It is there that he found Jesus. I never asked them but I suppose that’s why they were on the church’s jail ministry team.
Jesus not only patiently waits for your heart. He waits for His life to become evident in you. That happens by pursuing Him through reading His word and prayer. It is by knowing Him we learn His will. It is because of His love for us that we desire to show our love by following that will. But just as He won’t make you choose Him, He’s not pushy about His will either.
So it’s your choice. He’s waiting—patiently.
