ďJesus is patiently pleading. New life He wants to give. He freely gave His lifeís blood that you today might live.Ē The sheet music is yellowing as their voices fade in my mind but I cannot allow myself to forget the jailbirds. Thatís what my brother and I called them. Mom and Dad were part of a team that brought music and hope to local inmates.

You canít hear the harmony here but it is one of the best of all of Momís 20+ songs but it is the message that rocks. From the beginning of time God knew where youíd be at any given moment and He wanted you. His son shed His blood for you, and Heíll plead with you but He wonít force you to choose Him. Most of all, Heís patient. Heís waited 2000+ years.

Mom didnít make Jesus wait for her too long. She accepted Him when she was 10 or 11. Dad made Jesus wait a little longer while he was busy making mistakes which landed him in jail. It is there that he found Jesus. I never asked them but I suppose thatís why they were on the churchís jail ministry team.

Jesus not only patiently waits for your heart. He waits for His life to become evident in you. That happens by pursuing Him through reading His word and prayer. It is by knowing Him we learn His will. It is because of His love for us that we desire to show our love by following that will. But just as He wonít make you choose Him, Heís not pushy about His will either.

So itís your choice. Heís waitingópatiently.
