When I was a child, I’d walk on the beach, picking up shells that lay within reach. Some were nice, while some were not, but the best I discovered, were hidden till sought by resolute collectors or even a child. They’d probe and dig into the sand, using both, feet and hand, searching, searching till they got, the special one to add to the lot. So every day by the water’s edge I’d happily pick my way, hoping that I might find just one, and that would make my day. I combed the beach, I climbed the rocks and that sure was forbidden, it takes a lot o’ finding ‘cause the best are always hidden.
Come Christmas time and oh what joy for every girl and every boy, as off their letters go with lists that ask for a coveted toy. It’s holiday time and folks come home to share in all the loving, but ah! What pleasure is derived when it comes to the giving. The Christmas tree is up and hung with tinsel, bells and star, but the glittering angel atop the tree is prettier by far. Although we know there will be gifts they’re never on display till the time is right and it is the night before Christmas Day. So the gifts are wrapped, and kept from sight, and peeking is forbidden, the best things you know are the gifts, and so they are hidden.
To seek is man’s perpetual task whatever be the goal, so toil and persevere and rise well above the shoal. To reach where God has made a place within the fold for you, can ever love so perfect be, so tender and so true? Seek out, seek out, my brother, your Lord and God and Father, Great treasure you will soon behold, this is the promise made of old. Stay steadfast, press onward and mind all that you do, for he paid the price upon the tree when he died for me and you. And greater wealth will come your way, Oh brother do not go astray! To veer away is just not right, my friend it is forbidden, stick to the path or forever the treasure will be hidden.
There’s life everlasting for those who seek, in the blood of the lamb so good so meek. The best remains hidden unless sought, the path to discovery with peril is fraught. When the treacherous trails threaten and scare, remember your savior is forever there, to lift you lest ‘neath your burdens you fall. So stay with the fold and avoid the fall, just follow the path harkening the call. Be like sheep seeking the shepherd’s voice. Your destiny depends upon your choice. If it is the best you want in life you must be willing for the strife. He says if you seek, you will surely find, so go! pilgrim go…leave the world behind. Give it your best lest the Word be hidden. Embrace salvation it isn’t forbidden.
