In a time such as this,
When right is called wrong
And wrong is called right
May I seek to hide thy word in my heart
That I might not sin against thee.

In a time such as this,
When the enemy seeks to entice
With the world’s glittering treasures
May I seek to hide thy word in my heart
That I might not sin against thee.

In a time such as this,
When there are rumors of war,
Floods,
Earthquakes,
Nuclear threats,
And disease
May I seek to hide thy word in my heart
That I might not sin against thee.

In a time such as this,
When immorality is seen as a rite of passage
May I seek to hide thy word in my heart
That I might not sin against thee.

In a time such as this,
When separation of church and state
Is used by secularists
To persecute passionate Christians
Who know Jesus Christ is the only Savior of the world
May I seek to hide thy word in my heart
That I might not sin against thee.

In a time such as this,
When so many love darkness rather than light
May I seek to hide thy word in my heart
That I might not sin against thee.

In a time such as this,
When the world is so confused and deceived
May I seek to hide thy word in my heart
That I might humbly, mercifully & lovingly lead others to thee.

In a time such as this,
May I take the wings of every morning
To run to thee,
To seek thee,
Yes to hide in thee
So daily I may mount up with eagles wings
And soar!

Nice poetry entry with a good message. IMHO, I would have liked the poem to have ended with the next to last stanza - where the wording of the last line was changed only to highlight the act of reaching out to others, summarizing the purpose of hiding the Word in one's heart first to grow and protect oneself, then to culminate in reaching others. Just a thought.... :)

The message in this poem emphasizes how important it is to know the scriptures to use as an armor against the pitfalls of today's world. I agree with the first commentator that the poem would be more effective if it ended with the next to final stanza. I also would like to see a bit more structure in number of lines in the separate stanzas. Over-all, it is an important and necessary reminder for all Christians to be well versed in the Bible

This reminded me of a prayer or a Psalm, very good. Also of my Mamaw in heaven, Isiah 40:31 was her favorite.

Powerful! Taken from one of my most favorite verses. Thank you for the gift of your fine poetry.

An excellent reminder for us to hide God's Word in our hearts--HE is what we need in every circumstance of life.
