Some people I know including myself have a very hard time with concentration. My mind runs around at break neck speed with so many thoughts that it is sometimes so hard for me to concentrate of just one thing. When I was in the work force, I was told repeatedly that I must be able to multi-task in order to get all my work done in a timely fashion. If you have any common sense, you know and I know that there is no such thing as multi-tasking. I do not care if you have eight arms and eight hands you cannot multi-task. You have one mind and you cannot get more work done through multi-tasking.

If you want to do, great and mighty things you must give the job you are doing your complete attention. In order to develop total concentration you must harness your mind. You must work to develop a mind that can stick to one job until it is finished. You do not and cannot run from one job to the next and expect to accomplish anything worth having or doing. I know that from experience and now I am trying to bring my mind under my control. I am trying to retrain my mind and focus on one job until it is totally and completely finished. I find if I do that I can and do get more work done.

How does being able to concentrate all of your attention on one job and one job only give you an edge? If you do just one job and do it to the very best of your ability you can feel good about that job. Yes, you have the nay-says who will try to tear down what you have accomplished for one reason or another, but do not listen to them because believe it or not some of those nay-says could not have done that one job as beautifully as you.

It takes a great deal of hard work training your mind whereas it stays on one thing until the job is done. Keeping our minds focused on the job at hand is extremely difficult. If you are writing about a certain subject, you must harness your mind, keep it focused on that subject, and not deviate or your work will end up looking like a jigsaw puzzle. People will not be able to make heads or tails out of what you are saying. Concentration is not easy but it is worth its weight in gold if you can train your mind to do that.
