You came to life early and pushed right through,
So eager to be with the ones who love you.
Life was a struggle right from the start
But you were a fighter and did more than your part.
They called you their Hero and watched you in awe
As you mustered the strength to wiggle and yawn.
You added some pounds as the weeks went by
And your strong will was heard in every cry.
The moment came when you could be held.
Your Mom and Dad’s pride and love just swelled.
Feeling you nestled in their arms
They pledged to keep you safe from harm.
Many months later, you were ready to roam.
The big day arrived when you could go home.
You were joyfully embraced by your family
Who welcomed you with home with shouts of sheer glee.
You saw many faces looking down at you -
I imagine you wondered what you should do.
Some were your cousins who will become your friends,
And walk with you through life’s twists and bends.
Your cousins are varied in style, shapes and ages.
In your family tree, they fill many pages.
Often, cousins are known as once and twice removed
And bound together in love we’re a sizable brood!
Your big cousin lives a long distance away
And so I’m still waiting for the wonderful day
When we’ll finally meet face to face
And cuddle in a loving embrace.
You’ve been called “Our Hero” by your adoring Mom and Dad
And you’ve made so many others rejoice and be glad.
For you overcame the odds as you persevered
And we thank God and praise Him for sending you here.
