I looked into his dark, mesh eye. What a shock! I saw a human head. It seemed oddly curious to me that I could look into the Easter Bunny and see a person sitting there. I calmly accepted the fact that somehow, a person was inside of this Easter Bunny, but I also calmly accepted the fact that, for me, the Easter Bunny, as I had known him, no longer existed.
I accepted the truth about the reality surrounding the existence of one that just minutes before I had approached with a bit of awe, trepidation and hope. He was the one who brought new things at Easter, and I was counting on his granting my request for a gift.
Somehow, even though I knew that he no longer could be the grantor of every wish, I was comforted to know the truth.
An even greater truth is the truth about Easter. It is the reality of our Savior. Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection transcend failed hopes in things that come up hollow and empty. Out of the pain, suffering and shame Jesus experienced on our behalf, truth came. Life everlasting came. What a glorious hope to be shared with all those who are looking expectantly in the dark mesh of their lives for the Truth.
